Flare-up over Planned Parenthood hits Senate race in Loudoun

Amid a growing chorus from Virginia Republicans about the tendentious Planned Parenthood videos, local Democratic state senate candidate Jill McCabe said she continues to welcome support from the nonprofit group.

McCabe, a pediatric doctor and vice president of medical staff at Inova Loudoun hospital, has highlighted support from Planned Parenthood and other women's health organizations in this her first run for public office.

The recently released, heavily-edited videos from anti-abortion activists show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the transfer of fetal organ tissue for research. Conservatives have been in an uproar since the first video's release, calling for all public funding of Planned Parenthood to be stripped and for Democrats to reject the group's support.

During a July 17 interview, after the first video was released, McCabe said she believes in the practices of Planned Parenthood, an organization she says provides much-needed health care offerings to women.

“I'm a doctor, and I take care of patients, including women,” McCabe said when asked whether she still welcomes Planned Parenthood's support. “Women need health care choices and Planned Parenthood provides that. That's kind of the end of it for me.”

McCabe is in one of the most closely-watched Virginia legislature races in the state against incumbent Sen. Dick Black (R) in the Senate's 13th District, based in Loudoun County. Black is a staunch, pro-life conservative.

On Tuesday, Republican Party of Virginia Chairman John Whitbeck, a Loudoun resident, issued a statement directed at McCabe: "Last week and earlier this week, Planned Parenthood was caught on video discussing the sale of body parts from children who died in abortion procedures," said Whitbeck. "After viewing these videos, I felt compelled to join calls for an investigation of Planned Parenthood to hold them accountable for these barbaric practices.”

Whitbeck went to say he hopes McCabe “does the right and ethical thing by renouncing Planned Parenthood's endorsement and joining our calls for an investigation."

The videos, taken secretly, do not appear to show anything illegal from Planned Parenthood’s operations. The first video was released last week, followed by a second one Tuesday. While selling fetal tissue is illegal, Planned Parenthood is by law allowed to be reimbursed for transfer costs.

The Planned Parenthood official addresses the issue in the video, saying, "nobody should be ‘selling’ tissue. That’s just not the goal here."

In addition to the call for McCabe and other candidates across the state to renounce support from Planned Parenthood, Whitbeck and conservative activists have pressed Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Attorney General Mark Herring to investigate the women’s health group.

“Governor McAuliffe was disturbed by the content of the video in question, but does not believe it should be fodder for political attacks on women’s access to health care,” McAuliffe spokesman Brian Coy said in a statement. “Every Virginia women’s health center is licensed and regulated by the Virginia Department of Health and subject to regular and thorough inspections to ensure that they are in full compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations. The governor is confident that any violation of those laws and regulations will be reported and appropriate action taken.”

The fourth video has now been published.  I would not call it slick editing, but barbaric, Dr. Mengele.

slick selected spin & political opportunism

Note that the video in the third release is specifically titled “Episode 1”. So there are more ´episodes´ to come.

This is the lowest sort of depravity. A culture cannot sink much lower than this. YHWH utterly destroyed ancient pagan cultures because of human sacrifice. The pagan cultures sacrificed their children for personal peace and affluence. It is no different with abortion. Abortion is Ba´al worship.

Third video now released, and it is very detailed:

More videos to come.

Planned Parenthood, the same (tax payer supported) organization that lobbies against a woman’s opportunity to look at ultrasounds yet uses them so they don’t “crush” the parts they want to sell.  If PP wasn’t profiting, then why were they negotiating price?

I want to see an answer to Jeannne T’s question—Has Dr. McCabe ever performed an abortion? If not, why not?

Jill McCabe=El Cruncho!

“...Planned Parenthood officials discussing the transfer of fetal organ tissue for research.”

No, it was Planned Parenthood discussing how to harvest organs for them to sell after they killed off a baby.

It is vile and disgusting.

watch entire video - not distorted edits

I have no idea how the author came to the conclusion the Planned Parenthood videos “do not appear to show anything illegal from Planned Parenthood’s operations.” Both Dr. Nucatola and Dr. Gatter discuss altering abortion procedures to procure certain pre-requested fetal organs intact.  This is a violation of the National Institutes of Health Revitilization Act of 1993, 42 USC Sec. 498A(c)(2)(A)(ii) which reads “no alteration of the timing, method, or procedures used to terminate the pregnancy [may be] made solely for the purposes of obtaining the tissue.”

In addition, this practice is medically unethical says New York University bioethicist Art Caplan: “Altering procedures in order to get tissue in the best condition would be a big no-no, because the patient’s health is paramount and that should be the only concern for doctors.”

On top of that, Dr. Nucatola highly praises StemExpress, LLC which works with Planned Parenthood and is on-site at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics to pick up the fetal tissue.  StemExpress IS violating federal law by selling fetal liver tissues it procures from Planned Parenthood for up to $23,000.00.  Just take a look at its website.  www.stemexpress.com

Dr. Nucatola’s close association with StemExpress’s illegal activities indicate aiding and abetting liability might be in order.

“The videos, taken secretly, do not appear to show anything illegal from Planned Parenthood’s operations.”

Exactly. Moving on to real issues.

Who is the spokesperson for Black, I have never seen or talked with him have you?
McAuliffe was disturbed or did you just conveniently pass over that. Womens health care at any cost is unacceptable. Taxpayer dollars should no longer go to planned parenthood instead let McCabe, Wexton, Miller, Murphy…fund them we have the ACA which offers much of the same options planned parenthood does.

I trust a woman doctor over any mouth piece for Dick Black.

Is there some reason why Dick Black is so invisible these days?  He’s not around, only his surrogates.

Don’t believe Trevor Bartako’s spin that it’s just Republicans and Conservatives growing chorus.  It’s a majority of Americans who believe this practice is barbaric.

I wonder if McCabe supports the “less crunchy” method….

I wonder where frequent poster Equity stands on this one… Hmmmm.

Unfortunately, legalities & ethics often contradict.  Just because Whitbeck thinks it’s an ethics issue does not make it so.  Also as McAuliffe pointed out, the videos don’t support Whitbeck’s assertion.  Maybe if he told a joke to help support his stance, it might help.

FTA:  “I’m a doctor, and I take care of patients, including women,” McCabe said when asked whether she still welcomes Planned Parenthood’s support. “Women need health care choices and Planned Parenthood provides that. That’s kind of the end of it for me.”

Does Dr. McCabe perform abortions or not?  If not, why not?

FTA:  “The videos, taken secretly, do not appear to show anything illegal from Planned Parenthood’s operations. The first video was released last week, followed by a second one Tuesday.”

Oh, but there are several more videos due to be released by the Center for Medical Progress, one a week, in fact.  Their investigation has been ongoing for over three years.  The worst parts haven’t yet been released, and Planned Parenthood is alarmed.

And this is rich:

“This approach appears to be what’s going on within the CMP expose’ of Planned Parenthood selling baby parts. In addition, as the abortion industry now begins to realize who they allowed into their private clutches, meetings, conferences and even into the actual facilities who cut up baby organs for the past three years, PP now recognizes the massive amount of information now in the hands of CMS.”

Furthermore, according to LifeNews:

“Planned Parenthood has submitted a letter to the House Energy and Commerce Committee refusing to produce its scandalized Chief Medical Director, Deborah Nucatola, at a briefing to answer questions regarding potential illegalities she admitted to in a conversation caught on video by The Center for Medical Progress during an undercover investigation.

“In that letter, Planned Parenthood seeks to get in front of further scandal by speculating what it thinks will be on future damaging investigative videos by CMP. This includes an admission that CMP investigators may have video of actual tissue procurement at a PP facility:

‘Biomax set up exhibits at our National Medical Conference and our National Conference over the last couple of years.

‘We believe that on at least one occasion a representative from Biomax was shown a highly sensitive area in a clinic where tissue is processed after abortion procedures. While this work is standard and essential during any abortion procedure, any filming in such an area would be an extremely serious invasion of our patients’ privacy and dignity. We also believe that in at least one interaction at a Planned Parenthood facility, the Biomax representative asked questions about the racial characteristics of tissue donated to researchers studying sickle cell anemia, apparently seeking to create a misleading impression.

‘We believe a focal point of Biomax’s efforts was to induce our affiliates to enter into sham procurement contracts. In one instance, the amounts offered by Biomax were $100 per specimen. In another instance, Biomax offered to pay much more, sending the affiliate a “procurement agreement” that offered a payment of $1,600 for a liver and thymus – an astronomical amount compared to the minimal cost-recovery fees that affiliates with tissue donation programs currently recoup. These efforts most often targeted Planned Parenthood affiliates not currently engaged in tissue donation. All of these efforts were rebuffed. We suspect, however, that this will not deter the extremists behind this campaign from editing and distorting their surreptitious videos.

‘We also believe there are multiple taped interactions initiated by Biomax discussing whether and how a physician could adjust an abortion if the patient has requested to donate tissue for medical research, and we believe that these extremists will manipulate those videos to make more false claims. In fact, given the scope and length of the deceptive practices perpetrated by Mr. Daleidan, and the lengths he apparently went to in order to advance his political agenda, there may well be thousands of hours of videotape that he will deceptively edit into short video clips to release for many months.’

“So, Planned Parenthood thinks CPM has video of at least two of its conferences as well as PP staff dissecting babies for organs, expressing a preference for black babies, sniffing – if not taking – the bait on large kickbacks for baby parts, admitting (which has already happened twice) to illegally manipulating abortions to retrieve intact organs and body parts, and much, much, much more about which it has no idea.” (The Conservative Treehouse)
