U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock, the only Republican representing Northern Virginians in Congress, is endorsing Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) in the crowded GOP presidential primary.

The congresswoman announced her support for Rubio Wednesday morning, the day after the final Republican primary debate of 2015.

“Marco Rubio represents a strong, new generation of leadership who can turn the page from the failed Obama and Clinton policies, focus on the future, rejuvenate our economy, and create a strong, safe and prosperous America,” Comstock said in a statement. “Marco understands firsthand the struggles facing middle-class families and he has a plan to revive our stalled economy and put America back to work and on a path toward prosperity.”

In the 14-person GOP field, Rubio can be viewed as one of three true contenders along with businessman Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). The latest Real Clear Politics average of national polls shows Rubio in third place (12.6 percent) behind Trump (33 percent) and Cruz (16.1 percent) in the primary.

A first-term senator, the Miami-born Rubio is the son of Cuban immigrants. He is one of three Latino Americans in the Senate, a demographic Republicans lost badly in 2012.

Comstock said Rubio has a grasp on foreign policy and national security challenges, and that he “deeply believes in American exceptionalism.”

Rubio, who headlined a fundraiser for Comstock in 2014, welcomed the endorsement.

“Barbara Comstock is a great addition to our leadership team, and I am proud to have her support,” Rubio said in a statement. “With Barbara's support, we can win in a key swing state like Virginia and make the 21st century a new American century.”

Virginia shifted Democratic for Barack Obama in 2008 and helped re-elect the president in 2012.

Political pundits gave Rubio strong reviews from Tuesday night’s Las Vegas debate.

“There’s no doubt for general election voters Rubio won the debate,” MSNBC's Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough, a Republican former congressman, said Wednesday morning.

"Several candidates had strong performances, primarily Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida," wrote Maggie Haberman for the New York Times.

An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Monday showed Rubio besting Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton 48 percent to 45 percent in the general election.

Marco Rubio lied to get to the Senate (remember how his parents were wealthy land owners who fled Cuba after Castro got in power?).  Marco built a whole narrative on that lie, and coupled it with the “American Dream, “freedom,” and “self reliance” message.  Barbara’s dear friend, Sean Hannity, was fawning all over this clown in 2010.

Like Ted Cruz’s “and that is what a waitress in a diner back home told me,” it was all a fabrication.  Do we need a guy, separated from reality, in the White House?

And I’ll be she votes for Speaker Ryan’s budget….

RINO supports RINO. No surprises there.

Seems those who prefer a Canadian of Cuban descent—one who vows to stop all the other immigrants—aren’t that happy with Congresswoman Comstock’s choice.

Anyone but Trump.

As always, Comstock is clueless….she supports Chapman for Sheriff, a big mistake and now Rubio. Plain and simple, Rubio is an arrogant, know it all who has nothing to show. He came to congress because the dumb “sand heads” in Florida sent him there…he looked around, did not like the fact that it takes hard work, and dissed voting…and then decided to run for president. God help us. Comstock is as dumb as Palin is…and Rubio as ill prepared as Cruz is….Christie, Paul etc. Let’s plan to get rid of Comstock once and for all….

Comstock is as always wrong. At least she is consistent. Don’t vote for the latest tax-us-bill by Ryan that supports Planned Parenthood, illegals, foreign aide to countries that don’t like the USA oh wait Comstock already voted for illegal aliens when she voted for DHS budget, silly me. Nothing conservative about her just a empty suit slinging platitudes. Consider all the money spent to get her elected and the good it would have done with Marshall or Hollingshead in that seat.
