Saines to host ACA enrollment event Sunday

Sterling District Supervisor Koran Saines (D-Sterling) will be partnering with Enroll Virginia Nov. 12 to help local residents enroll or renew their health insurance plans through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace.

The enrollment event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Sterling Library.

This year, Virginians have until Dec. 15 to apply for premium assistance, review their health plan options and enroll in a plan during open enrollment.

Open enrollment is the only time most consumers can purchase individual insurance for 2018 and this period is significantly shorter than last year’s open enrollment period, Saines’ office said.

Saines’ office noted that Loudoun residents will have fewer plan choices on the ACA marketplace in 2018 and some will need to choose a new health plan to continue receiving financial help with premiums, deductibles, and co-pays.

The Sterling District supervisor’s office urged residents to check provider directories and prescription drug formularies before enrolling in new plans for 2018 to see if their current doctors, pharmacies, hospitals, and medications are in-network to avoid any unexpected bills.

Individuals need to bring the following documents or information on Nov. 12: a Social Security Number for self and all family members, recent tax returns or last two paystubs, immigration/legal documents, name and number of employer(s) and email address.
