Mother, son found dead in Aldie area; authorities investigating as homicide

Update: Feb. 1, 9:52 a.m.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the victims are mother and son.

" ... it is believed at this time they are the only residents of the house and the son lived at the house. Currently we are working on the timeline and sequence of events, we can confirm that the female was last heard from via email and that was on Monday at approximately 5:30," a sheriff's office spokeswoman said.

Original story: Feb. 1, 8:41 a.m.

Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office are investigating an apparent double homicide at a home in the Aldie area, authorities announced today.

The LCSO was notified by a caller Wednesday that a co-worker who lives in the 25000 block of Tomey Court had not come to work this week. Deputies checked the residence, and the adult in question and another adult were found deceased inside, according to reports. Both appear to have died from gunshot wounds.

The victims have been identified as Mala Manwani, 65 and Rishi Manwani, 32.

The case does not appear to be a random act, and authorities say there is no indication of any threat to the public. Further details will be released as they become available.

Anyone with information regarding the case can contact Detective Perry of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Homicide Unit at 703-777-0475.

heyyousleaze nailed it Carmelle. According to LinkedIn the mother was a tax accountant (multi lingual) who worked for several large publicly traded companies. It appears she’d been working in this area for at least 25 years. Does that make her one of the “new people” ruining the area? Sounds like a stable, working professional to me.

Wow @heyyousleaze, that’s pretty discriminatory to claim that Carmelle’s comment was referencing foreigners.  I would perceive the comment to mean that the growth of Loudoun County has brought in new people (i.e. non-Loudoun natives).  But… I see that your mentality and thinking compares largely with those who seem to be offended by any comment they don’t fully understand.

What do you mean by “all these new people”? Do you mean those “darned foreigners”? Your post certainly seems to insinuate that. From the sound of their names they are Asians, who are far less likely to engage in homicide in the US than other demographics.

Sad to say. This area used to be peaceful and quiet before all these new people started moving in. More people equals more crime, mainly domestic.
