Shoe’s Cup and Cork closed indefinitely following fire

A small fire in the back kitchen area caused Shoe's Cup and Cork on S. King Street in Leesburg to close in recent days.

The popular restaurant and coffee shop has announced they will remain shuttered for an extended period in order to complete further repairs and renovations.

Margaret Brown, a spokeswoman for Shoe's Cup and Cork, said the fire was minor, and while they are making the necessary repairs, the owners, Karen and Fred Schaufeld of Leesburg, decided it was a good time to make a few renovations as well.

“A restaurant always has a wish list,” Brown said.

A date for reopening has not yet been announced. Brown said in the meantime all perishable food and dairy was donated to Loudoun Hunger Relief.

Shoes posted a message on Facebook: “We will be closed until further notice as we plan to use this time to make repairs and revamp the store to make your next Shoe's experience excellent. We appreciate your patience and hope to reopen next week."

they can start by stop blocking the sidewalks.  Along with half the other restaurants in Down Town, they have tables chairs ropes chains drinkers ans signs blocking much of the sidewalks.  It is looking trashy.  Either town staff or town council or likely both are completely out of touch.  Next they will vote in a strip club;.
