A Sterling woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and two counts of child endangerment after a Saturday night traffic stop, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Around 11:40 p.m. Saturday, LCSO deputies responded to the Oakgrove Road and Old Ox Road area of Sterling in reference to a driver that left a vehicle in the middle of the road with two children inside.

According to LCSO, the driver, Jeovani A. Amaya-Martinez, 40, then got back in the car, continued driving and almost struck another vehicle.

Amaya-Martinez was eventually arrested and charged with DUI and two counts of child endangerment. She was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond.

So we are automatically assuming she is illegal simply based off her name?

@LoCo Wonders

Can we ask about her immigration status or is that off limits?  Deportation is a great way to avoid second offenses.

At her age she should know better, when they released her it should have been on the condition that she doesn’t get near those kids.

Dear God, those poor kids.  So many kids have parents that act like this.  Drugs, Drunk driving, beatings, starving, sexual assaults.  It just never stops.  I pray every night for the children, the elderly and the animals.  They seem to be the ones that suffer the most from abuse and neglect.
