A Sterling woman has been charged with the theft of $28,000 in coins and jewelry.
Ajanay M. Banks, 18, was arrested Oct. 22 by deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office for the Oct. 14 burglary of a home in the 43000 block of Stukely Drive in Dulles. After breaking open a basement window to enter the house, Banks allegedly stole $28,000 in coins and jewelry.
A family member of Banks who used to live with the victim helped lead police to Banks. During the investigation, police also discovered Banks had previously robbed the house in September, stealing jewels and then selling them to local pawn shop.
Banks faces charges of burglary, larceny and larceny with intent to sell or distribute stolen property. She also was charged with underage possession of alcohol, related to the Oct. 14 burglary.
