Swastikas drawn in Sterling over holiday weekend

The holiday weekend saw a number of swastikas scribbled in Sterling.

First, on Saturday, a resident of the 100 block of Environs Road reported a swastika drawn in what was potentially fruit juice. Then, Sunday saw reports of several community signs with painted swastikas in the area of Environs and Tripleseven roads. One sign had a swastika drawn on it with an unknown red or pink substance, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Two vehicles were also found with the substance on them. One of the vehicles had what appeared to be a swastika, but LCSO investigators were unable to find the owner of the car.

Investigators said they have no reason to believe the area or cars were targeted. The incidents may be related given their proximity, but there is no evidence linking them, an LCSO spokeswoman said.

Anyone with information about the vandalism can call LCSO at 703-777-0407.
