Tuesday is Give Choose day for scores of Loudoun County nonprofits

Nearly 100 local nonprofits will benefit from a one-day fundraising blitz in Loudoun and Fauquier counties Tuesday

Give Choose, a fundraising campaign organized by The Community Foundation of Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties, expects to rake in tens of thousands of dollars for local organizations in just 24 hours beginning at midnight May 2 until midnight May 3.

Last year, more than 1,400 donations were given totaling more than $180,000, with Loudoun Interfaith Relief hauling in more than $25,000. A Place To Be, a music therapy group based in Middleburg, took in more than $19,700, and HealthWorks for Northern Virginia raised more than $16,000.

To reward the community's givers, local businesses will be offering sponsorship and grant matches throughout the day to make donations go further.

“Give Choose is the perfect opportunity to unite the Loudoun community utilizing a philanthropic platform," Amy Owen, executive director of the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties, said in a prepared statement. "And, it’s a great way to educate residents and businesses on the many different types of charities and causes that work in our community. This is a great way for people to make their first donation to a charity knowing that every dollar raised stays in here at home."

Since 2014, Give Choose has raised almost $400,000 for local charities.
