Woman reports attempted sexual assault in Sterling

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported attempted sexual assault in the area of Alberta Terrace and Edwards Terrace in Sterling early Sunday.

The victim, an adult female, was walking home from the area of Waterview Plaza around 1:30 a.m., according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. The victim reported an unknown male started following her and attempting to talk to her.

At one point, the male suspect reportedly walked in front of the victim and pushed her to the ground. A struggle ensued, and the victim punched the suspect. The victim was able to flee and returned home and contacted authorities.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned, possibly Hispanic male, and he was wearing a dark shirt and pants.

The victim was not physically injured during the assault.
