Dean Niles Quinney

Dean Niles Quinney, a resident of Hillsboro, Virginia passed away on Monday, August 7th, 2017 at Lansdowne Inova hospital. He was 89 years old. Dean was born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania on November 27th 1927 to parents Arnold W. and Inez B. Quinney. He is predeceased by his parents; brother Donald, sisters Doris and Louis, and his wife Eulalie. Dean is survived by his sons Timothy, Shaun with wife, Bernie and Todd, with wife, Charisma. After Dean graduated high school, he served in the Army Air Corps for two years prior to enrolling in college. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained his Master's degree from the University of Michigan, and thereafter, earned his Doctorate's degree (PhD) in Forestry Economics from the New York State College of Forestry at the University of Syracuse. Subsequently, Dean worked for a couple of years as a professor before embarking on a career in the federal government as Deputy Director of Research for the Forestry Service in the Agricultural Department. He retired in 1990. Dean was a nature enthusiast and loved the outdoors. He was also an avid history buff. During his retirement, he volunteered in the community with the Ruritans club. Moreover, he worked as a tour guide at Morvern Park in Leesburg Virginia. A graveside service will be held on 8/13/17 at 2:00pm at the Hillsboro Cemetery.
