John Warren Fields

John Warren Fields, 62, of Ranson passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 at home.

After graduating from Loudoun County High School in 1973, John began his career with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue until his retirement at the rank of Lieutenant in 1990. He also served as a bus driver for Jefferson County Schools for many years.

John was born Aug. 27, 1955, in Leesburg, Virginia, to Harvey L. and Clara Poland Fields, both of whom preceded in death.

He is survived by his brothers, Alvin Fields of Purcellville, Virginia, Donald (Sandy) Fields of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Larry (Donna) Fields of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Also surviving John are his wife, Sharon Stewart Fields and daughters, Lauren (Ryan) Dearman and Katherine Fields. He especially proud of his two grandchildren, Ava Marie Fields and Owen Eugene Dearman, and delighted to know another was on the way. Additionally, John is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Laughter and good times abounded around John. He enjoyed his family and friends near and far: fishing trips with the guys in the WV mountains and in Florida, Thursday night golf, kayaking on the Shenandoah, picking crabs in the Outer Banks, WVU football, and drinking wine while listening to his friends play bluegrass music. All of this, and much more, John Fields shared with his lifelong friend, John DeMary.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Independent Fire Company, Ranson, on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 2 to 5 p.m. Knowing John, he would hope for smiles, laughter, and good memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Independent Fire Company, PO Box 925, Charles Town, WV 25414 in John’s memory.

Interment will be private.

Arrangements by the Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
