Margaret P. Noah

Margaret P. Noah 26 May 1925 – 10 Nov 2017

Margaret P. Noah passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Leesburg, VA on November 10, 2017. She was born in Watertown, NY, the daughter of Roy Edward and Margaret Kinne Parker.

Survivors include son Matthew and wife Carole of Ashburn, VA, daughter Maryblair Svarverud and husband Greg of Fairfax, VA, grandson Nicholas Noah of Atlanta, GA, granddaughters Kelly Noah of Ashburn, VA, and Ella and Lilian Svarverud of Fairfax, VA. Her first child, son John Parker Noah, predeceased her in 1959.

She was a graduate of Watertown High School and Cornell University; she earned her Masters Degree in Education from SUNY New Paltz. She taught first grade for twenty years at Duzine Elementary in New Paltz, NY, and was much beloved by an entire generation of students, colleagues, and friends.

She loved to spend time with her family and friends, especially at “Gneiss Ledge” in the Thousand Islands area in Fishers Landing, NY. She was active in the choirs of the Reformed Church in New Paltz, and St. David’s Episcopal Church in Ashburn, VA. She was an excellent cook; her popovers, creamed potatoes, and Queen Elizabeth Date Cake are a part of the Parker family traditions. She loved all things British, particularly English murder mysteries where as she put it: “all the characters plot ghastly things for each other as they politely sip tea”. She did the New York Times Sunday Crossword and Quote Acrostic Puzzles into her late eighties. Her love and smile will be greatly missed.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Ashburn on 20 November 2017 at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heritage Hall Resident Aid Fund at Heritage Hall, 122 Morven Park Rd NW, Leesburg, VA 20176.

We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Heritage Hall for their loving and attentive care to our dear Mother.
