Robin Ritter Giles

Robin Ritter Giles

Robin Ritter Giles, 71, maintained her brave and cheerful spirit and persevered with optimism for the future, even though she faced the toughest of diagnoses. She passed away on July 17, 2017 at the Adler Center for Caring.

Robin, known to her friends and family as Beanie and Byrd and most recently GiGi, was born January 7, 1946, and grew up in Marion, VA and Leesburg, VA. She attended Radford University for her teaching degree and eventually earned her Master's degree as a reading specialist from Shenandoah University. Robin taught elementary school students for 40 years until she retired in 2010. She touched hundreds of young lives during her teaching career.

Filled with compassion and interest in others, Robin made friends easily and maintained contact with many. She had a zest for life that was evident from the moment you met her. Once you became her friend, you were a friend for life.

Robin is survived by her two children, Sandy Giles Boo (son-in-law Dave McCalley) and Jay Giles (daughter-in-law Jaime Jackson-Giles) and her grandchildren Cooper and Emery Giles. Robin is also survived by her husband Roger Englehart, brother Jim Ritter and sister Betty Worchester.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the American Cancer Society (or your local non-profit hospice agency) would be a wonderful way to hone her life. You may also send donations in her name to PACE Center for Girls, 3508 26th Street, W, Bradenton, FL 34205.

Per Robin's wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. However, if you are out somewhere and want to raise a glass to toast her amazing spirit, we are sure she would love that!

During her retirement, Robin loved spending time at her home in Bradenton, FL. The beach was her "happy place". Those of us that know and love her are sure she is on a beach, somewhere, THE Life of the Party.
