Russell F. Payne

Russell Fairfield Payne, 85, of Purcellville VA, departed this life on Thursday, February 22, 2018. Mr. Payne was born July 6, 1932 in Wardensville, West Virginia, son of the late William Fairfield Payne and Amanda Grandison Payne. He retired after 45 years as an Industrial Art Teacher from Graydon Manor in Leesburg, Virginia. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Loving husband of Virginia Whitmore Payne; devoted father of Richard N. Mooney and John N. Mooney of Winchester VA; beloved grandfather of seven grandchildren, Nakisha, Johnnathan, Shantel, Richard, Jr., Patricia, Stefan and Trenton; and five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Azariah, Naryiah, Avayah and Saiyana. He is survived by one brother, William A. Payne of Winchester VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, VA with Rev. Harold Stinger officiating. Burial will follow in Charles “Buster” Jackson Community Cemetery, White Post, VA. Military honors will be provided by the Clarke County Honor Guard.
