Steven Stuart Rodgers

Steven Stuart Rodgers

ŽBorn in Augusta, ME to Otis H. Rodgers, Col, USA and Hope Gray Rodgers.Ž Steven Stuart Rodgers was born in Bangor, Maine in 1956. As part of an Army family, Steve got to see Maine, Belgium, Iowa, North Carolina, California, Georgia, and all the states in between, before finally settling with his mother in Virginia Beach, and later, in Round Hill, Virginia. In the very late 1980Žs, Fragile-X Syndrome was medically defined and SteveŽ's diagnosis was finally confirmed. In spite of the diagnosis, Steve led a useful life within his capabilities. Steve helped his mother deliver Meals-On-Wheels for many, many years and worked at ECHO (http://www.echoworks.org) in Leesburg, VA for the past three years in a supported work environment. Helping others gave Steve purpose and getting that ECHO paycheck, no matter the size, made him feel rich beyond measure. Steve was very outgoing and loved to meet and greet new friends with a handshake.Ž Steve had been living with cardiac issues for over a decade. In spite of the best care that modern medicine has to offer, his condition continued to worsen and in recent months, his health began to fail. Steve passed away Saturday night at 7:30PM from Congestive Heart Failure at the age of 61. Steve is survived by brothers Mark and Richard, their wives Judy and Jackie, and various nephews, nieces, cousins, and many, many friends.Ž A Celebration of Life service will be held at Round Hill United Methodist Church on February 17th at 11:00AM, with final interment at Arlington National Cemetery with his parents. In lieu of flowers, please consider a financial donation to ECHO in Leesburg, VA.
