Flash Flood Warning Issued For Loudoun, Several Roads Closed

© Leesburg Today - 09/29/2015

Heavy downpours moved through Northern Virginia on Tuesday night, dropping as much as 3 inches of rain in some areas.

Several roads were reported flooded across Loudoun, Prince William and Fauquier counties, including in Middleburg and the Plains.

Closures announced as of 11:30 p.m. due to high water include: Leesburg Bypass eastbound and westbound closed (traffic is being diverted from westbound bypass to King Street and from eastbound bypass to W. Market Street); and Edwards Ferry Road at Red Cedar Rock Way.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Loudoun and Fauquier through midnight. An additional inch of rain is expected on top of the three inches that has already fallen.
