Leesburg Sunoco Robbed At Gunpoint

The Leesburg Police Department is investigating the armed robbery at an East Market Street convenience store Tuesday night. One of the suspects was wearing a clown mask.

According to the Leesburg Police Department, the crime happened at 10:17 p.m. at the Sunoco Station at 615 E. Market St. A man approached the counter and asked the clerk about cigarettes. The clerk was asking him for identification when a second suspect entered the store wearing a clown mask. He displayed a black handgun and demanded cash. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, both suspects fled on foot toward Fort Evans Road.

The area was searched by responding Leesburg officers and a K9 unit from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. There were several witnesses.

The first suspect is described as a white male, 18-20 years old, wearing shorts and a black or dark colored hooded sweatshirt.

In addition to the mask, the second suspect was wearing all black clothing and carrying a backpack.
