Stone Bridge Grad To Compete For Miss America Title

Alyssa Howell, a 2013 graduate of Stone Bridge High School, was crowned Miss Nebraska 2015 on June 6. She will compete for the title of Miss America in Atlantic City, NJ, on Sunday, Sept. 13.

She is the daughter of Robert and Cathy Howell of Leesburg and is a junior at Creighton University in Omaha, NE.

In the Miss Nebraska contest, she won the preliminary talent competition with her piano performance of ""Northern Lights"" written by her piano teacher, Elizabeth Borowsky of Towson, MD. She also won the overall interview award and a total of $11,000 in cash scholarships plus many more prizes.

She will spend the year representing Nebraska and supporting Children's

Miracle Network hospitals as well as gathering donations for her Miracle Bag

Program, which she developed to provide gift bags to children in treatment at hospitals.
