The Leesburg Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Panda Café early yesterday morning.

About 5:42 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, officers were dispatched to the restaurant at 707-F E. Market St. after a passerby noticed that the glass front door had been broken out.

No one was inside and officers found that a cash box wit an undisclosed amount of money was taken.

The theft was similar to a number of break-ins reported in eastern Loudoun during the past week.

In this case, the restaurant's security camera caught the thief in action. Footage showed that about 3:25 a.m. a suspect gained entry by breaking the glass front door with a hammer. A second suspect appeared to act as a lookout outside.

Police said the suspects were completely covered by clothing, including some type of hooded jacket or sweatshirt.

Investigators are asking that anyone who may have witnessed this incident or saw anything suspicious during that time to call 703-771-4500. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call the Leesburg Crime Line at 703-443-8477.

The department can also receive information from the public using a program called TIPSUBMIT. Tips about a specific crime or criminal activity can be sent by text, email or smartphone. Text LPDTIP plus your message to 274637.
