Fire officials say at least 58 people were displaced when a  two-alarm fire ripped through an apartment building in Lake Ridge late Sunday.

Crews were called to the 3800 block of Meandering Way in the Dominion Middle Ridge complex off Smoketown Road after 11:30 p.m. Flames could be seen as far away as Old Bridge Road.

The blaze was contained to one building, but the roof had to be cut away on a second building to prevent the fire's spread, said Rebecca Barnes, spokeswoman for the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department.

In all, the Red Cross is assisting 58 families and an unknown number of pets.

No residents were hurt, but two firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the flames, Barnes said.

Crews from OWL, the Dale City Volunteer Fire Department, Prince William County, Manassas city and Fairfax were on scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
