Briar Woods claims fourth straight crown at Dulles cheer meet

Briar Woods High School’s competitive cheer squad is aiming for a fourth consecutive Virginia AA state championship this fall. The Falcons took a step in that direction Oct. 24, claiming their fourth straight Dulles District meet title in front of their home fans in Ashburn.

Briar Woods scored 230 points on its routine to top runner-up Tuscarora by 14 points. The regular-season district champion Huskies were second with 216 points, while Loudoun County (209), Dominion (199) and Woodgrove (198.5) rounded out the top five in the nine-team meet.

The top four teams - Briar Woods, Tuscarora, Loudoun County and Dominion - from the district meet qualified for the Region II competitive cheer meet, scheduled for Nov. 3 at John Champe High School in Aldie.

The state competitive cheer competition is Nov. 10 at the Siegel Center in Richmond.
