Briar Woods leads the cheers at state meet

The Briar Woods Falcons followed up their Region 5C championship by winning the team crown at the Virginia High School League Class 5 state competiition cheer meet Nov. 4 in Richmond.

Briar Woods earned a score of 264 points on their final routine to finish 12.5 points ahead of state runner-up Tuscarora (251.5).

Hickory and Stafford each scored 242 points in Class 5.

Reigning Class 3 state champion Riverside qualified for the state competition in their first year at the Class 4 level. The Rams placed fourth at states with a score of 243.

Grafton (254) won the Class 4 competition, followed by William Byrd (250.5) and Hanover (245).
