Broad Run, Stone Bridge to play Friday for hockey championship

The Battle of the 'Burn on ice is set for Friday night. Ashburn rivals Broad Run and Stone Bridge will square off in the Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League championship game at Kettler Captials Iceplex in Arlington.

Broad Run, the No. 1 seed, and Stone Bridge, the No. 3 seed and reigning NVSHL champions, have each won two playoff games this week to earn entry into the championship.

Broad Run defeated Riverside, 5-4, in the quarterfinals and Oakton, 9-3, in the semifinals. Stone Bridge shut out Bishop Ireton, 10-0, in the quarterfinals and Woodbridge, 7-0, in the semifinals.

Both teams will be aiming for one more playoff win in the title game, which starts at 7:50 p.m.
