Dominion High School’s golf team earned a spot in the Virginia AA state tournament following a runner-up finish at the Region II tournament, Sept. 27 at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal.

Dominion’s Sam Stilwell - the defending AA state individual champion - shot a 69 to earn low medalist honors at the region tournament. Western Albemarle won the team title.

Erik Dulik also delivered a strong performance for the Titans, tying for third place individually with a 72. Kurt Funkhouser and Matt Henderson rounded out Dominion’s scoring with rounds of 82.

Ryan Douglass of Heritage shot 71 to place second and earn an individual spot in the state tournament. Douglass’ runner-up finish follows his individual title at the Dulles District tournament.

Other Loudoun golfers heading to states are Ian Hildebrand (Loudoun Valley) and Ryan O’Sullivan (Heritage). The state tournament is Oct. 8-9 at Lakeview Golf Course in Harrisonburg.
