Loudoun County High School junior Steven Graham showed off his immense talent by winning four individual events at the Dulles District Track and Field Championships, May 17 at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg. The Raiders won eight of 16 boys events overall to claim the team title.

Host Tuscarora placed first in all three jumping events - senior Amirah Al-Bayyinah (long, triple jump) and junior Lori Kostka (high jump) - to win the girls team championship. The second-year Huskies totaled 133.5 points to edge Briar Woods (121.5), Woodgrove (113) and Potomac Falls (98.5) in the standings.

Loudoun County, aiming to make another strong postseason run after placing second in the state last spring, scored 132 points in boys events, 28 points better than runner-up Tuscarora. Briar Woods (84.5) edged Heritage by a half-point for third place.

Graham swept the three sprint races and also showed best on the long jump. The Raiders also received outstanding efforts in the distance events with junior Patrick Joseph pacing the field in the 800 and 1,600, and senior Josh Showalter winning the 3,200 run.

Joseph also ran a leg on the Raiders’ winning 1,600 relay team along with Cameron Acton, Teddy Murphy and Michael Campbell.

Along with Al-Bayyinah and Kostka striking gold in the jumps, Tuscarora also placed first in the 1,600 relay. Karissa Love, Devon Bowles, Kostka and Anna Wasko teamed up to win that event.

Senior Shaquera Leach led Briar Woods to a runner-up girls finish with a dominant performance in the sprints. Leach paced the field in the 100, 200 and 400 dashes.

Potomac Falls sophomore Eileen Fauteux also won multiple events Thursday, hurdling her way to victories in the 100 and 300 hurdles.

The Region II Track and Field Championships are set for May 23 at Tuscarora.
