The Briar Woods Falcons boys tennis team kept their perfect season intact with a 6-3 road victory over previously undefeated Loudoun County April 25 in Leesburg. The Falcons won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles contests on their way to the win.

Senior Pablo Bordas, sophomore Michael Hwang, along with freshmen Sai Konuri and Vineeth Gaddam scored singles victories for Briar Woods. The Raiders gained a pair of singles wins from junior Bill Bouwieri and sophomore Jack McLister.

In doubles competition, Briar Woods secured the overall victory when Konuri and sophomore Michael Hwang netted the team's fifth win. Gaddam and junior Rupin Bhalla also won for the Falcons. Bouwieri and McLister teamed up to claim the Raiders' lone doubles victory.

“I felt that Sai Konuri was big today in both singles and doubles,” said Briar Woods coach Jim Noland. “Pablo [Bordas] coming back and winning his match at No. 5, I thought that was a big point.”

With the victory, Briar Woods improves to 13-0 on the season. Bordas, Gaddam, and Hwang each improved to 13-0 in singles, while Konuri also remains undefeated in singles play at 11-0. Bordas credits work ethic in practice and the team’s ability to work together as reasons for the Falcons' strong season.

Loudoun County slips to 12-1 this spring.
