Golf: Sload places fifth at VHSL Girls’ Open

Briar Woods senior Skylar Sload shot a 36-hole total of 151 on Oct. 23-24 at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian to finish fifth at the Virginia High School League Girls' Open Championship.

Carley Rudolf of First Colonial and Diana Domenech of Mills Godwin each shot 1-under par 143 to share co-champion honors.

Sload, who helped lead Briar Woods to a regional championship earlier this fall, produced rounds of 76 and 75 for a 7-over par total.

Overall, six Loudoun golfers competed in the event. Shreya Ganta of Riverside tied for 13th place with a two-day total of 162.

Broad Run's Hannah Jonely (166) placed 23rd, Woodgrove's Kelly Klimek (170) tied for 29th, Ashton Keilholtz (183) of Briar Woods tied for 49th place and Freedom's Sejal Sankaran (191) placed 61st.
