Local track athletes medal at nationals

Ashburn Elite athletes produced a strong showing at the AAU National Track & Field Championships, combining for seven medals.

More than 5,000 youth athletes competed in the championships, contested July 7-15 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Florida.

D.J. Cobbs earned a silver medal in the long jump (19 feet, 9.5 inches), and also joined forces with Christian Rollinson, Christopher Rollinson and Jaden Bridges to medal in the 4x100 relay for boys ages 13-14.

Bryce Scholz (3,000-meter run), TJ Taiwo (80-meter hurdles) and Deja Scott (long jump) also earned medals.
