Loudoun County selects Mackey to lead soccer program

Following a couple of seasons as an assistant coach, Olivia Mackey is making the move to head varsity coach of the Loudoun County High School girls' soccer team.

Mackey, a Raider alumnus, takes the reins from longtime coach Kirk Smith, who relocated to Florida after the 2017 season.

A graduate of Elon University, Mackey currently teaches Health and Physical Education at Loudoun County High School.

Mackey was a four-year varsity player and three-time team captain for Loudoun County prior to earning a scholarship to play soccer for Elon.

Following a standout career at Elon, Mackey played professional soccer with the Seattle Sounders.

Mackey, who also has coaching experience with Loudoun Soccer, stated her passion for LCHS during a 2015 interview with the Times-Mirror.

“Anyone that knows me knows that I love this high school with every bone in my body. Anything that was relating to me in high school was blue and yellow.”
