Loudoun Valley advances to VHSL state basketball semifinals

The Loudoun Valley Vikings took another step in their quest to win a state championship in varsity boys' basketball Friday evening in Salem.

Loudoun Valley rolled past Monacan 83-61 in the Virginia High School League Group 4A boys' basketball quarterfinals to earn a spot in Saturday's semifinal round.

A strong season for Potomac Falls came to a close Friday in the VHSL 5A boys' quarterfinals. The Panthers fell to L.C. Bird 61-44 at Hampton University.

Loudoun Valley avenged a quarterfinal loss to Monacan from last season. Monacan defeated Loudoun Valley in this same round on its way to winning the Group 4A state crown.

The Conference 21-East and 4A West Region champion Vikings (28-1) will face George Washington in the semifinals Saturday at the Salem Civic Center.

The semifinal game is scheduled to tip at 7:45 p.m. See below for details on how to watch the game online.
