Loudoun Valley to honor volleyball standout

Loudoun Valley High School will hold a ceremony Feb. 2 to recognize former volleyball standout Blair Brown Lipsitz during a varsity basketball doubleheader versus Woodgrove. Brown was inducted into the LVHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.

During the ceremony, set to take place between the girls and boys basketball games, Brown will be recognized for her athletic achievements and will have her Loudoun Valley jersey retired.

Brown was unable to attend last year's Hall of Fame ceremony due to her duties as head women’s volleyball coach at the University of Buffalo.

A member of Loudoun Valley's undefeated state championship team in 2004, Brown twice earned Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year honors. Brown, who holds the state record with 1,463 career kills, was also a standout track and field performer. She won a state high jump title in 2005.

Brown moved on to play on four national championship teams at Penn State University. She was the Big Ten Player of the Year and Penn State Female Athlete of the Year in 2010.

Following Penn State, Brown played professional volleyball in Italy, France and Puerto Rico, along with training with the United States national team.

Brown resides in Buffalo with her husband Max Lipsitz, who was also an All-American volleyball player at Penn State.
