McSorley draws recognition as college football season nears

Penn State junior quarterback Trace McSorley has been named to a pair of watch lists ahead of the 2017 season.

The Briar Woods High School alum is a candidate for the Maxwell Award (National Player of the Year) and the Wuerffel Trophy, considered college football's premier award for community service.

McSorley set Penn State season records for passing yards (3,614), passing touchdowns (29) and total offense (3,979 yards) in 2016. He has thrown a touchdown in a school-record 15 consecutive games.

McSorley was a part of three state championships teams playing for coach Charlie Pierce at Briar Woods.
