Alex Greenberger posted the highest individual score of the season for Foxcroft School’s climbing team Feb. 11 in the Washington Area Interscholastic Climbing League Championships.

For her efforts, the junior from Purcellville has been selected as Foxcroft's Athlete of the Week for the period from Feb. 11-17.

In the WAICL Championships, Greenberger posted a personal-best 35 points with a 5.10d climb and a V4 boulder problem at Earth Treks to lead Foxcroft against eight teams from six other schools.

Scoring is based on successful completion of a climbing route or bouldering problem. “Successful” means that the climber has only used holds designated for that route, has not put any weight on her rope and has control for at least three seconds on the final hold.

“Alex is constantly working on her technique and pushing herself to new heights,” said coach Josie Ross, smiling at the intended pun.

Greenberger is a co-captain on Foxcroft's climbing team, which is in their first season of competition.
