Seven Loudoun teams begin postseason play Friday

Seven Loudoun teams have qualified for the 2017 varsity football postseason by virtue of the Virginia High School League power ratings.

Stone Bridge, Broad Run, Tuscarora, John Champe and Potomac Falls earned spots in the Region 5C playoffs, while Dominion and Loudoun County have secured spots in the Region 4C playoffs.

The postseason begins Nov. 10 and continues for five weeks through the VHSL state championship games Dec. 9.

The champion of each region will advance to the VHSL state semifinals, scheduled for Dec. 1-2.

Stone Bridge Bulldogs

-Details: 10-0, No. 1 seed in Region 5C
-First round: Home vs. No. 8 Robert E. Lee (4-6)
-2016 playoffs: Region champions, state finalist

Broad Run Spartans

-Details: 9-1, No. 2 in Region 5C
-First round: Home vs. No. 7 Wakefield (3-7)
-2016 playoffs: Region quarterfinals

Tuscarora Huskies

-Details: 8-2, No. 3 in Region 5C
-First round: Home vs. No. 6 Potomac Falls (5-5)
-2016 playoffs: Region first round

Dominion Titans

-Details: 7-3, No. 5 in Region 4C
-First round: Away vs. No. 4 Sherando (8-2)
-2016 playoffs: State semifinals

John Champe Knights

-Details: 7-3, No. 5 in Region 5C
-First round: Away vs. No. 4 Falls Church (6-4)
-2016 playoffs: Region quarterfinals

Loudoun County Raiders

-Details: 7-3, No. 6 in Region 4C
-First round: Away vs. No. 3 Kettle Run (8-2)
-2016 playoffs: Did not qualify

Potomac Falls Panthers

-Details: 5-5, No. 6 in Region 5C
-First round: Away vs. No. 3 Tuscarora (8-2)
-2016 playoffs: Region semifinals
