Sporting Virginia wins national youth soccer crown

Sporting Virginia, a team of six girls representing the Sporting Virginia Futsal Club in Leesburg, won the Under 10 Gold Division at the Challenge Sports 3v3 Soccer National Championships, held July 28-30 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.

Sporting Virginia, consisting of Zoeh Byrd, Hannah Minogue, Sophia Henry, Hannah DeVincent, Emma Torres and Lily Stevens, defeated the defending champions from Jacksonville in the championship match to complete an undefeated run in the tournament.

Sporting Virginia qualified for the national tournament through local and regional events.
