Virginia Xtreme win flag football title

The Virginia Xtreme Sports 11U VXS Purple team won a regional flag football tournament Oct. 20 in Arnold, Md. The tournament, hosted by NFL Flag and USA Football, consisted of three age divisions and featured teams from Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Indiana.

The VXS Purple shut out all four of its pool play opponents and defeated a team from Boston, 33-19, in the championship game. The region title qualifies the VXS Purple for the NFL Flag National Tournament, which will be held during Super Bowl week in New Orleans.

Team members are Tommy Dean, Max Jones, Stephen Kallivokas, Caleb Hertel, Jeremy Roach, Nicholas Barts, George Richardson, Derek McCandless and Greyson Sequino. The VXS Purple are coached by Bobby Barts and Scott Kallivokas.
