Woodgrove swings to Dulles District golf title

The Woodgrove Wolverines shot a four-player total of 294 to claim the team championship at the Class 4A Dulles District golf tournament, contested Sept. 19 at Algonkian Golf Course in Sterling.

Woodgrove's Alex Price and Michael Thomas, and Loudoun Valley's Ryan Hammer tied for low score through 18 holes with matching rounds of 71. Price prevailed after two playoff holes to claim individual medalist honors.

Joe Eastman (74) and Kelly Klimek (78) also factored in the Wolverines' team scoring.

Loudoun Valley (299) finished five strokes back of Woodgrove in second place. Riverside (309) edged Heritage (310) by one stroke for third place, the last team qualifying position for the regional tournament.

Loudoun County (313) placed fifth as a team, followed by Dominion (318) and Park View (426).

Eastman and Loudoun Valley's Owen Cook (74) tied for fourth individually. Dominion's Kelvin Shen and Riverside's Jack Gessaman each shot 75 to tie for sixth place.
