Dominion High School's volleyball team will host its fourth annual Military and First Responders Appreciation Night on Oct. 5; an information meeting for the Centurions homeschool wrestling team is Sept, 30; and team registration is open for the Central Maryland Soccer Association’s Inaugural Delmarva Soccer Cup.

A group of approximately 60 kids participated in the ninth annual Eagle Wrestling Camp, held June 19-23 at Freedom High School in South Riding. The week-long camp was run by Freedom wrestling coach Greg Northhart, Loudoun County wrestling coach Kent Nagy and a host of Freedom wrestling alumni.

Four area wrestlers strike state gold

A total of 15 area wrestlers placed among the top six in their weight class Feb. 17-18 at the Virginia High School League State Wrestling Championships.Broad Run's duo of Michael Battista (170 pounds) and John Birchmeier (220), along with Stone Bridge senior Arsam Jafaryzad (152) struck state gold in the Group 5A tournament. Elijah Boldin of John Champe won the 285-pound state crown at the Group 4A level.

Rock Ridge senior Nicole Fye swims to a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle race Feb. 17 at the Virginia 4A state swimming meet in Richmond. Fye, committed to swim at Ohio State University, also won the 200 freestyle title, in addition to teaming with Gabby Zhang, Emerson Davis and Allie MacMillan to place first in the 400 freestyle relay.—Times-Mirror/Patrick Kane

Loudoun varsity athletes rack up state titles

Several student-athletes from Loudoun high schools produced impressive results at the Virginia High School League State Swimming, Wrestling and Gymnastics Championships. Ten individuals and four relay teams swam to state titles, four wrestlers struck state gold and Freedom's Sydney Wrighte was the class of the field in gymnastics. Riverside collected state gold as a girls' team at the Group 3A Swim Championships.

Loudoun’s Varsity Scoreboard: VHSL State Championships

Riverside High School won the girls' team championship at the Virginia High School League Group 3A State Swimming Championships on Saturday in Richmond. Several Loudoun student-athletes won individual swimming, wrestling and gymnastics championships at the state level.

The Group 4A Conference 21-East Wrestling Championships were contested Feb. 4 at Rock Ridge High School in Ashburn. Host school Rock Ridge won the team title with 203.5 points. Dominion placed second with 165 points, followed by Loudoun Valley (144), Heritage (92), Loudoun County (77) and Park View (43).

Wrestlers from Briar Woods, Broad Run, Potomac Falls, Stone Bridge and Tuscarora high schools took the mat Feb. 4 for the Group 5A Conference 14 Wrestling Championships at Rock Ridge High School. Broad Run won the team title with 263 points. Stone Bridge placed second with 189 points, followed by Tuscarora (178), Briar Woods (146) and Potomac Falls (134).

Wrestling: Conference tournament results

Varsity wrestling teams from all 15 Loudoun County public high schools competed Saturday in one of five conference tournaments. The Broad Run Spartans won the Conference 14 team title and the Rock Ridge Phoenix claimed the Conference 21-East team crown.

Mat success for area wrestlers at girls tournament

The first sanctioned Virginia High School League Girls' Wrestling Tournament was a big hit for six Loudoun student-athletes Jan. 27 at Skyline High School in Front Royal. Sydney Bowman of Tuscarora and Jackie Moran of Rock Ridge each placed first in their weight class to highlight the local charge.

Loudoun’s Varsity Sports Rewind: Jan. 6-12 events

The Loudoun County Raiders defeated the Riverside Rams 68-37 in varsity girls' basketball Thursday night. The Raiders have won 13 straight games and are currently 14-1 overall. Look inside for scores and submitted recaps from varsity basketball, gymnastics, swimming and wrestling.
