Google has pledged $200,000 to the Community Foundation of Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties and the Loudoun Education Foundation as a “capstone” to its $600 million investment in Loudoun County, according to organization officials.

Google is developing two data center sites in Loudoun – one at Arcola Center near Dulles and another at Stonewall Business Park in Leesburg. Officials with the tech giant say the company is spending $600 million to develop the projects in Loudoun and $1.2 billion in developments across the commonwealth.

The Google grants will support STEM programs, teacher training and funds for classroom materials and special programs like the Loudoun Education Foundation's-Loudoun County Public Schools Backpack Coalition, which feeds approximately 850 students and their families weekly during the school year.

“As we get our operations underway in Loudoun County, we’re starting to get to know the community better and are proud to support two organizations doing great work to support students, schools and nonprofits across the county,” Kelley Edwards, a Google operations manager who will oversee the two new data centers in Loudoun, said in a prepared statement. "We look forward to deepening our roots here as our facilities come online and our teams are hired.”

The two new Loudoun facilities are expected to create around 50 full-time jobs, according to Google.

“While we are very appreciative of Google’s commercial investment in Loudoun, we’re even more excited about the way they have invested in our community,” said Loudoun Economic Development Executive Director Buddy Rizer said in a prepared statement. “It’s incredibly rewarding for me to watch companies like Google fully engage in giving back to the communities where they work.”

When Buddy Rizer gives away $42,000 to Loudoun Mutual (because they threaten to move) for re-zoning fees (to commercial), and they have over 44 million is assets, in that rewarding to him as well? (BTW, another Minchew-Piggins pork-fest).

How many of the 50 "full time jobs" being created are low paying janitorial and physical security positions?

Those jobs are outsourced to contractors. Those workers exist, but their paychecks won't say Google.
