Restaurant chain Newk’s Eatery opened its first Virginia location at The Shoppes at Potomac Corner in Sterling this week.
Founded in 2004 in Jackson, Mississippi, Newk’s operates more than 120 locations in 16 states. Its menu features a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts.
“We’re thrilled to begin serving the Sterling community as we continue our growth in the Northeast region,” Newk’s VP of Marketing Michelle Spohnholz said in a prepared statement.
The restaurant is located at 46515 Harry Byrd Hwy., No. 190 and will take up 4,377 square feet. It will also feature an 810-square-foot rooftop patio with umbrella-covered seating, according to Newk’s. The eatery will accommodate up to 132 guests inside and 52 outside.
Newk’s will host a public “Community Pep Rally” to celebrate the grand opening on July 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Before the pep rally, community members are encouraged to nominate their favorite local charities or organizations for a chance to win a portion of opening day proceeds through the restaurant’s #FeedWhatMatters social contest. Two nominated organizations will be selected to compete in the fundraiser. The organization that corrals the largest crowd during the pep rally will win.
“We’re excited to have the opportunity to be involved with local organizations through our grand opening fundraiser, and we look forward to making the community a part of our Newk’s family,” restaurant franchisee John Nguyen said in a prepared statement.
