This is My Brave to host virtual 5K this weekend

This is My Brave is hosting a virtual 5K race this weekend to raise awareness about mental health issues.

This Is My Brave, an Ashburn-based nonprofit organization that works to raise awareness about mental health issues, is hosting a virtual 5K race this weekend.

Participants are encouraged to register online and walk, run, hike or bike 3.1 miles June 26 through 28 to show support for “Brave the Storm.”

“Mental health awareness and understanding is more important now than ever," This Is My Brave Executive Director Jennifer Marshall said in a prepared statement. "So many people are feeling afraid and overwhelmed due to the pandemic. Our partner Mental Health America reported unprecedented numbers of people taking their online mental health screening in May pointing to a coming wave of mental impacts that we all need to prepare for."

Participants can join the virtual 5K anywhere around the U.S. and post a photo on social media using #bravethestorm20. Registration can be found at thisismybrave.org/brave-the-storm-2020/. Registration is free, and participants can download a race bib to print out and wear this weekend.
