Free meals for nurses at Squisito in Ashburn on Wednesday

In celebration of National Nurses Day on May 6, Squisito Pizza and Pasta in the Ashburn Village Shopping Center is offering free entrees to nurses all day on Wednesday.

To redeem the offer ($13 value), nurses are asked to bring a badge or wear their uniform.

Squisito franchise owner Keith Baker said business has shifted since the COVID-19 pandemic began, but he has seen "a lot of local support."

"Our customers have rallied around us, graciously supporting our staff during this trying time. We also felt the need for expanded delivery options, now partnering with Grubhub in addition to DoorDash. Because many people are quarantining with their families, our family meal specials and sales of pizza overall are very strong," Baker said.

Squisito has three deals to feed two to eight people, he said.

Baker said he feels it is important to support nurses on National Nurses Day because they are "truly heroes."

"Not just during the pandemic, but every day, they risk their own health to better ours," he said. "We feel that it’s crucial to show them support in any way that we can and let them know how much we appreciate them for their tireless efforts. Furthermore, because we want to continue to honor these brave men and women, we are offering a special discount to all first responders for 20 percent off their total food purchase through June 30."
