Celebrity chef Spike Mendelsohn was in Loudoun County on March 31 to celebrate the grand opening of the county’s first Dash In, which is located at 24755 Gum Spring Road in Chantilly.
The 5,600 square-foot “upgraded” convenience store offers a fresh, made-to-order menu with in-store seating and outdoor patio seating, 17 fueling stations and a Splash In car wash.
Dash In, a subsidiary of the La Plata, Maryland-based Wills Group, is looking to open several locations around Loudoun in the next few years, according to Mark Samuels, vice president of retail.
“We are hoping to ramp up quickly,” he said. “We are thrilled to be part of the Loudoun community and we are looking forward to building a network of Dash In convenience store restaurants with car wash and fuel and would like to build half a dozen to a dozen more in the next few years. We are actively pursuing other locations.”
Samuels said the store is designed to be different and it is known for its high-quality food and has partnered with Mendelsohn who has created the “Spike Burger” which will be available through May.
“We have a full commercial kitchen, and all the cooking is done on site,” he said.
Some of the menu options include smash burgers, a variety of salads, breakfast sandwiches, quesadillas, croissants, biscuits, donuts and house-made potato chips.
“We also have a unique 22-foot beverage wall which is a big highlight,” Samuels said, adding there is a 16-head self-serve station and an automated smoothie and milkshake machine which is a fan favorite.”
At the grand opening event, executives presented $25,000 in grants to local nonprofits such as the Dulles South Food Pantry, Keep Loudoun Beautiful and Loudoun Hunger Relief. They have also partnered with Loudoun United FC and will host the team on April 13 in an event featuring food tastings, giveaways and free car washes.
