A man was arrested in Ashburn on the night of Friday, April 2 after allegedly attempting a burglary and driving while impaired, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
A deputy responded to the 20300 block of Belmont Park Ter. around 11:30 p.m. after receiving a report about a possible drunk driver.
The deputy found the vehicle in question in front of a residence where other deputies were responding to a separate call about an attempted break-in.
The driver of the vehicle reportedly attempted to drive away when approached by authorities, though the deputies were able to stop the car and then determined the intoxicated driver had also attempted to forcibly enter the home.
William L. Harper, 50, of Ashburn, was charged with attempted burglary, destruction of property and driving while intoxicated.
Harper is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
