A man was arrested in Ashburn early July 25 after allegedly driving while impaired and carrying a concealed weapon, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Department.
A deputy on patrol near the intersection of Gloucester Parkway and Ashburn Shopping Plaza around 1:46 a.m. reportedly observed a vehicle traveling well over the speed limit.
Upon conducting a traffic stop, authorities found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and located a handgun inside the vehicle.
Matthew A. Branson, 20, of Ashburn, was charged with driving under the influence, carrying a concealed weapon and reckless driving.
Per the LCSO, Branson was later released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on personal recognizance.
