Construction underway for Lovettsville Community Park

The main entrance for the upcoming Lovettsville Community Park, which is located off Milltown Road.

Construction crews are making progress on the new $11 million, 91-acre Lovettsville Community Park, says Loudoun County Chief Park Planner Mark Novak.

The main entrance to the park — located on Milltown Road — is complete, and another entrance behind Lovettsville Elementary School is nearing completion. Contractors are currently on schedule, according to planners.

“Over the next few months a lot of change will start to take place,” Novak said.

Once complete, the park will hold four baseball fields — one large field and three smaller facilities — as well as three rectangular fields that will be used for sports such as soccer, football and lacrosse. All of the fields will have lights for nighttime use.

Additional park highlights include a fenced-in, off-leash area for dogs, walking and hiking trails, an equestrian center, an outdoor amphitheater and a community garden.

The entire project is scheduled for completion in fiscal 2023, meaning it’s about 18 to 24 months out, Novak said.

In addition to the park, a new Lovettsville community center is under construction. That project is currently out for bid, and work should begin this fall, Novak said.
