The suspect in a stabbing outside the 7-11 at 21800 Towncenter Plaza in Sterling at 12:04 a.m. on Feb. 5 confessed, according to sheriff’s deputies.
William Joseph Addison was arrested at the scene and a bloody knife was found on him, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
“Addison admitted to stabbing [the victim] four times after a verbal altercation,” Detective Thomas M. Rodriguez said in a criminal complaint. “[The victim] was rushed to the hospital, underwent emergency surgery, and was transferred to the intensive care unit.”
LCSO spokeswoman Michele Bowman said on Feb. 6 that the victim is in serious condition. She said the alleged victim and Addison, a 36-year-old homeless man, didn’t know one another.
Detective Sean P. McCormack wrote in a search warrant affidavit filed on Feb. 7 in Loudoun Circuit Court that Addison told police he was arguing with two women in the 7-11 when the alleged victim walked in. The man told Addison he shouldn’t be talking to the women that way. Addison said when the man left the store, he followed him outside and stabbed him as the man was getting into his car. The warrant is to search the car for blood stains.
Addison’s criminal record includes convictions in 2015 for malicious wounding and use of a firearm in a felony in Fairfax County Circuit Court. He has was charged with assault and battery and destruction of property in Fairfax County on Nov. 19. The cases are pending in Fairfax General District Court.
Addison is being held without bond at the Loudoun Adult Detention Center. “Based on the nature and circumstances of present offenses, combined with past convictions on similar charges, no employment and no fixed address, the accused poses a present risk to public safety as well as a potential flight risk,” Addison’s bond application said.
