Ashburn Senior Center

A rendering of the upcoming Ashburn Senior Center.

Loudoun County officials broke ground Sept. 5 on Ashburn's first county-run senior center.

The 15,000-square-foot facility on Marblehead Drive will be the fifth center in Loudoun to provide services to the county's growing senior population. Features of the Ashburn center include a small gymnasium, a multipurpose room with pickleball courts, classrooms, a commercial kitchen, a fitness room, game room, computer lab and an arts-and-crafts room. The center will be operated by the Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services.

The nearly $10.7 million project is being funded through cash proffers. A target completion date has been set for spring 2021.
