A Fairfax County juvenile detention officer has been arrested on four felony sex offenses after a Loudoun County Sheriff's Office investigation, authorities announced Wednesday night.
Sixty-year-old Clifton Townsend, Jr. of Leesburg was taken into custody Monday night after the investigation determined he had sexual contact in Loudoun County with a juvenile he knew. The age and gender of the juvenile are not being disclosed to protect the identity of the victim.
Townsend has been charged with rape, carnal knowledge of a child and two counts of sodomy. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Authorities say the victim is not associated with Townsend's work at the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center.
The sheriff's office was alerted to the alleged crimes Saturday.
